Geek Commercial Contest

 

Now is your chance to show your creativity.

 

Submit your audio or video Geek 2 Geek commercial and, if we use it, you will win $200 plus a free 6 month Gold membership to Geek 2 Geek.

 

We want you to showcase your geek talent.  Write and produce a commercial for Geek 2 Geek.  Or, just write a script for one and win $100 and a 3 month Gold membership. Or, just send in an idea and win $50 and a one month Gold membership.

  

 

All videos will be posted on our YouTube account. Audios will be put on iTunes.

 

We will not accept commercials that, in our opinion, are offensive. Also, they must meet the criteria of YouTube and iTunes and may not be R or NC17 rated. All videos that are submitted become our property according to the license agreement. By submitting your video, you agree to the terms of this agreement.

 

Also, you must be age 18 or older to be eligible to win. We may require proof of age if we are not sure.

 

Commercials must be between one and three minutes long, and no larger than 30 megabytes in size. See below for instructions to meet these requirements. Include a title for your commercial and suggested keywords in your submission. You must email your commercial to us using the submission instructions below.

Rules

 

  • Organization and administration: 

This contest is organized and administered by QED Marketing Company (“QED” or “QED Marketing”), an Illinois Corporation. The “Geek Idol” contest can be accessed solely on the internet via emails of video submissions, with the opportunity to win prizes.

 

  • Participation 

Participation in the contest is restricted to persons aged 18 (eighteen) and over. Employees of QED Marketing Company, their spouses and family members and anyone who has taken part directly or indirectly in the preparation of the contest are not eligible.

 

  • Purpose of the contest 

The contest is designed for participants to submit original videos created by the participants. Criteria include, but might not be limited to:

 

-         geekiness

-         talent

-         humor

-         entertainment

-         creativity

-         originality

 

  • If more than one person is included in a video, all such persons must be identified. Only the person who submits the video is entitled to the cash and membership prize.

 

  • Size and length of videos 

Qualifying videos must be no longer than three minutes in length and no more than thirty megabytes in size. They must be in an acceptable format. Instructions for video submissions are available below.

 

  • Videos that, in the opinion of QED are offensive will not be eligible. Videos must also meet the standards of YouTube.com and may not be R or X or NC17 rated.

 

  • Copyrighted materials: We do not accept copyrighted materials unless you are able to prove that you have obtained the rights to use such materials as well as the ability to transfer those rights to QED for use in this contest.

 

  • Cost reimbursement 

Entrants are responsible for the entire cost of creating their videos and submitting them.

 

  • Any incomplete submission or submission made by a person not meeting the requirements above shall not be eligible for competition.

 

  • You may submit (or participate in) more than one video, however, no person shall be entitled to more than one prize.

 

  • Selection of winners. 

Winners will be determined  QED Marketing, based on the criteria mentioned in the purpose of the contest described above. QED Marketing will be the final determiner of the winners.

 

 

  • Disclaimers: 

QED reserves the right to shorten, suspend, modify or cancel the contest in the case of force majeure or if circumstances external to QED so require, without it bearing any responsibility as a result.

 

Similarly, QED shall not be responsible if access to the website and/or browsing it proves difficult or even impossible for participants. No claim shall be accepted for such.

 

QED cannot be held responsible if data in respect of a participant’s entry is not received for any reason (for example, an Internet connection problem for some reason related to the user, a temporary failure of our servers for any reason etc) or are received illegible or impossible to process (for example, if the participant has inadequate computer hardware or software for his/her registration etc).

 

Accordingly QED shall under no circumstances be responsible, without this list being complete, for:

 

- The content of services browsed on the said website

- The transmission and/or reception of any data and/or information over the Internet

- Any malfunction of the Internet preventing the proper progress/operation of the contest

- Malfunction of any receiving hardware or communication lines

- The loss of any mail whether on paper or electronic, and more generally the loss of any data

- Routing problems

- The operation of any software     

- Any technical or equipment malfunction that prevents or limits the possibility of taking part in the contest

- Any information communicated by the participants, in particular their personal details shall be considered null and void and will not be taken into account if they contain any errors. Any decision by QED and any change to these rules resulting from the foregoing paragraph shall be the subject of an amendment.

 

  • Rules and disputes 

Participation in the contest that is the subject of these rules means full and automatic acceptance without reservations by the participant of the said rules. Any contesting of any sort in respect of these rules or of the contest shall be decided solely and absolutely by QED.

 

  • Applicable law 

This contest is subject to the laws of the State of Illinois.

 

 

  • Audio submissions. All rules above apply to audio submissions to the same force and extent.

Video submission instructions

 

1.    What kinds of file formats can the videos be submitted in?

                  .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG file formats.

 

2.    What are the limits of the files?

      a.    Size

                  30 megabytes in size

      b.    Time

                  1-3 minutes long

 

3.    What are the ways to comply with the size limitation?

                 

Most programs will allow you to adjust the final outcome of size by allowing you to change the audio and video quality. Video should be no larger than 320x240 and basic stereo or plain old mono is fine.  

 

4.         What's the best format to upload for high quality?

 

We recommend the following settings:

 

     * MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format

     * 320x240 resolution

     * MP3 audio

     * 30 frames per second

 

Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your videos look better.

 

 

5.    How do I compress video files?

 

If you are a windows XP user you are in luck. It comes built in with windows movie maker. If you need help with it go to these links

6.    How do I send the video?

 

Go to www.yousendit.com. Create a free account there. Follow the instructions on sending a file to another person. The email address to send it to is gk2gk@gk2gk.com. The email address that you supply to yousendit will be the email address where all future communication about the contest will be sent to. Be sure to include a title for your video and suggested key words.

 

 

7. What if it's an audio commercial?

 

The same instructions apply. Please submit your audio commercial in mp3 format.
