My Description:

I came across a description for a nerd as someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia and a geek as someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. I would have to say then I am a nerd by aptitude, geek by inclination. Which is to say that I am intelligent and articulate with my geekiness! Thus my username.
Hmm. About me, eh? Sorry I was digressing. Again. I was born and grew up in Chicago. I have lived most of that time here in the city. I am a South Sider with pretentions of North Sider in me.
I am not into sports.
I am still a bit of a goth even though my hair has lightened faster than my wardrobe. Despite that I am a little old-fashioned and quirky and lately have been thinking about top hats, goggles and the color brown. (If you know this, qudos to you) I have been told by women (and oddly men) that I dance well at clubs. Not so good at formal dancing. I will write a haiku sometimes because I like the forced structure it entails. I have been accused of being intelligent but naive, and a bit energetic (guilty on all counts). OK, geek nexus point is somewhat accurate. I have enjoyed the gamut from sci-fi to Ren Faires to LARPs, but my favorites are still RPGs and Doctor Who (queue Murray Gold music). Been there liked it and come back around. I am a bit of a trivia vacuum cleaner, picking random bits of knowledge here and there. I could be on Jeopardy! Computers are easy, it's people that are hard. Computer geek by trade, I can still read punch cards and EBCDIC. But I digress. Again.
Comic book convention? check.
Museums? Sure!
Movie? Cool.
Dance night? Great, Let me get my combat boots on. neo, Exit, or Late Bar?
Hanging out at home? Just the two of us tonight, I hope? Unless it's game night! Where are our character sheets!
Watching golf? Thank you, no.

My Match Description:

Oh sure now a shopping list of what I want...Not like there's a test (that's next period), but...
You are here. At this dating site. You're sure you want to be here? OK, you pass!
Actually personality compatability is the most important thing to me. Because if we don't click, the rest does not matter. I hope you are accepting of my passion and enthusiasm of for all things geeky (gee look at my interests). No pretentiousness please, unless you are LARPing. Hecklers of others need not apply, unless you are truly Waldorf to my Statler. Then all the world is our stage as we heckle Fozzie Bear from the balcony.

ere is where it gets complicated. I started with classical, Top 40 and disco hatin' hard rock (yes, I loved the Insane Coho Lips, you have to be a Chicagoan). Got into metal when hard rock was not enough. But something was missing. Then one night after a play, we went to a Chicago club called neo. I learned the next day while going to get my broken glasses fixed, I had been slam dancing to Goth and Industrial music. I had found my muse. SO... NIN, KMFDM, Dead Kennedys, The Sex Pistols, Nitzer Ebb, Ministry, The Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, The Smiths. But, I still like my old classics like ELO, The Moody Blues, Metallica, ELP, Kansas and Styx (you have to be a Chicagoan). Favorite album: Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds. Favorite songs: Cuts You Up, This Corrosion.
